A sound alternative to gloom and doom
Anyone seeking positive solutions to global challenges such as climate change, financial meltdown or simply creating a happy, sustainable lifestyle - rather than a constant stream of bad news from the media - can find hope and inspiration in a new phone-based, radio show – Sound Alternatives.
“The idea of phone-based radio may sound strange,” says Carl Munson of Sound Alternatives. “But it's an ideal way of sharing vitally important information in a really economical, exciting and environmentally friendly way. People can get the information they want and no one needs to leave home.”
Participants simply call the show number at the time of the live 'broadcast' they want to hear, enter an exclusive PIN, and can then listen to hosts Francesca Cassini and Carl Munson interview a given expert on their specialist subject; they can even get involved and ask questions.
Show subjects planned include alternative and positive approaches to all aspects of healthy, green and holistic living. The calls are also recorded and can be listened to on-line or downloaded post-broadcast.
“We're not saying things aren't bad in the world,” says Francesca. “We just think people are sick of endless media negativity and feeling hopeless and helpless when it comes to the inevitable changes we are having to face. The Sound Alternatives shows are a quick, fun way to access seriously useful and empowering information. Urgent solutions are needed to the world's problems, and this is a rapid way of getting great information out there.”
The showcased experts will be chosen on the basis of their passion for their subject and for being solution focused, positive and community oriented. This new way of hearing about life-changing ideas combines the magical appeal and immediacy of radio with the convenience of the humble telephone. Evening shows cost UK-based participants around 60p, and BT landline owners can even call for free. Mobile users and overseas callers can also take part.
“Business-as-usual, or 'life as we know it' is heading for catastrophe, unless we change course and create a new, more resilient and sustainable way of life,” says Carl. “We need to take action fast and we need to get informed. The convergence of numerous global challenges, like climate change, financial meltdown and peak oil are affecting more people every day. We don't have time to waste. We need to unlock, share and utilise our collective genius. This is an ideal way to do it.”
Both Francesca Cassini and Carl Munson have a background in alternative publishing and a love of radio. Their Sound Alternatives project represents the culmination of over 40 years combined experience and commitment to sharing life-enhancing, planet-saving ideas.
