ATR Bassingbourn
The Army Training Regiment Bassingbourn (ATR(B)) lies just to the south west of Cambridge. The 14 week training course (Common Military Syllabus) is completed by all adult (17+) recruits when they join the British Army. There are four training units at ATR Bassingbourn - two Companies, each of which has six Platoons, and two Squadrons, each of which has six Troops.
Bassingbourn is situated on the borders of Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire . The nearest town is Royston, which is approximately 3 miles away. Royston has an excellent health and leisure centre, which incorporates a swimming pool. Cinemas, leisure centres, theatres and many more amenities for both adults and children can be found in both Stevenage and Cambridge. These can be reached by car or by rail directly from Royston train station.
Unit Facilities: There are a wide variety of unit amenities at Bassingbourn. They include a gym with multi gym and cardio-vascular equipment, golf course, dry ski slope, coarse fishing, model aeroplane club, land yachting club, library, education centre, PRI shop and a Spar shop.
