Abbey WoodAbbey Wood houses the MOD's Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) procurement organisation. DE&S equips and supports the UK's armed forces for current and future operations. DE&S acquires and supports equipment and services, including ships, aircraft, vehicles and weapons, information systems and satellite communications. As well as continuing to supply general requirements, food, clothing, medical and temporary accommodation, DE&S is also responsible for HM Naval Bases, the joint support chain and British Forces Post Office.
HMS Flying Fox based in Bedminster, Bristol provides a centre for the support and progress of RNR careers.
243 Field Hospital has had an association with the Southwest of England since 1907. Its Headquarters are based in Keynsham, Bristol, it also has squadrons and detachments across the region from Gloucester in the north, Portsmouth in the south and Truro in the west.
