About RAF Digby

Opened on 28th March 1918 RAF Digby is the oldest operational RAF station. Today, the station supports both strategic decision makers at the highest level and the front line on a 24/7 basis, directly supporting British Armed Forces wherever deployed.

RAF Digby is host to several co-located units - HQ Joint Service Signals Organisation, Joint Service Signals Unit (JSSU) Digby, 591 Signals Unit, Aerial Erector School.

RAF Digby is in the county of Lincolnshire, just off the A15 between Sleaford and Lincoln. You do not need to travel far to find all essential local amenities.

RAF Digby is on a local transport route and schooling is conveniently located nearby. There is a shop on the base for essential commodities and the nearest town is Sleaford for your wider needs. Two small villages are within 5 miles; Ruskington and Metheringham, both with facilities for shopping, schooling, doctors, pubs and restaurants.

The HIVE Information Officer, SSAFA Personal and Family Support Worker, Station Chaplain, Community Development Worker and Station Hairdresser are all located within the recently refurbished, Integrated Welfare Facility (IWF) on Station at RAF Digby. Within the IWF is also the Enigma Coffee Shop, serving hot and cold food to eat in or take away. Other facilities include: the Silver Maple Club/Bar, Station Gymnasium (24hr access to the multi gym), Learning Centre, a crèche (12 mths to 3 years) and pre-school (2 to 5 years). The Digby Tedder County Primary School is also located on Station, which is a Lincolnshire County Council run school. Other facilities for the children include: a parent and toddler group, youth club, cubs, scouts, rainbows and brownies.

The Silver Maple & Families Club is situated next to the junior ranks mess. It provides an entertainment facility, through which all servicemen and women can participate in social, cultural and recreational activities, which are not otherwise provided for. The club offers three well-priced bars, which are available for private hire (application forms are available from the bar along with terms and conditions). Amongst the many and varied facilities on offer are Sky TV, snooker and pool tables, darts, gaming machines, skittles and state of the art disco equipment. A full entertainment package is run throughout the year including live bands, comedians etc and is on a monthly basis, there’s also a disco, held fortnightly.
