Elgin
The Royal Burgh and market town of Elgin, situated 6 miles south of Lossiemouth, is best known for its ruined cathedral of 1224. The town has many amenities which include the Library, a Leisure Centre with swimming pool/ice rink, and Cooper Park, one of the most beautiful parks in Scotland. Elgin is the main shopping centre for the area; there are several supermarkets and a new development of retail shops.
The majority of quarters for RAF Lossiemouth are situated in Elgin. There are three SFA areas: Lossiemouth has approx 200 SFA, Bishopmill Elgin has 350 SFA and Pinefield Elgin has 135.
RAF Lossiemouth has a Gymnasium, Thrift shop, Barber, Bowling Alley, the usual sports and games clubs and a Coffee shop. It also benefits from a Junior Ranks Internet Lounge (The Den).
