About Innsworth & Imjin Barracks
Imjin Barracks, Innsworth (formerly RAF Innsworth) is home to HQ ARRC, together with the MOD's Service Personnel & Veterans Agency - which includes the Medal Office and
the Joint Casualty and Compassionate Centre (JCCC) .
Innsworth is in a semi-urban location four miles from Historic Gloucester and the Spa town of Cheltenham; both offer a good range of shops and facilities including theatres, cinema and sporting venues. Cardiff, Bristol and Birmingham can be reached within an hours drive. There is easy access to Cotswold Villages, The Forest of Dean or The Malvern Hills. You should never be stuck for something to do or places to visit in this area.
The Station and SFA are undergoing a full re-development programme but currently has a gym for Service personnel and a community centre which hosts Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Parents & Toddlers. There is a day nursery within the SFA area. The Mess is an all ranks Mess which offers regular family nights.
Gloucester and Cheltenham both have stations which are on the main line and have car parking; both are about 4 miles away. There is a good local bus route to Gloucester and Cheltenham with buses running directly from outside camp twice an hour. The No. 94 bus also runs about every 10 to 15 minutes all day with a night service up to very late - it can be caught from the traffic lights by the Hare and Hounds pub which is about 5-10 minute walk turning left out of the main exit gate. National Express runs a service to other major towns around the country; these buses can be caught from either Gloucester or Cheltenham. Mega bus runs from both locations to London.
Innsworth is within an hours drive of Bristol, Birmingham and Cardiff airports; all of which offer domestic and foreign flights. There are good Park & Ride schemes for Cheltenham and Gloucester.
