Mail Preference Service Online.
The Mailing Preference Service (MPS) is a free service set up 20 years ago and funded by the direct mail industry to enable consumers to have their names and home addresses in the UK removed from or added to lists used by the industry. It is actively supported by the Royal Mail and all directly involved trade associations and fully supported by The Information Commissioners Office.
If you still receive unsolicited mailings despite your registration with the Mailing Preference Service you can use their complaint handling service.
Telephone Preference Service Online.
The Telephone Preference Service (TPS) helps you to make sure your telephone number is no longer available to organisations, including charities and voluntary organisations who may telephone you with offers and information you do not wish to receive.
Facsimile Preference Service Online.
Under Government legislation introduced on 1 May 1999 it is unlawful to send an individual an unsolicited sales and marketing fax without prior permission. Businesses have the opportunity to register fax numbers on which they do not wish to receive direct marketing faxes.
You can do this by registering with the Fax Preference Service. Although this Service is primarily aimed at businesses, as individuals have protection under the legislation, individuals may also register their fax numbers if they wish.
Fax Preference Service Complaints System
If your fax number has been registered on the Fax Preference Service over 28 days and you are still receiving unsolicited sales and marketing faxes you may wish to make a complaint.
