Theddingworth Community Information Portal
The Church is situated at the west end of the village and has a warm and welcoming congregation, as well as an interesting history.
Meetings are held at 10.30 every Sunday except the first Sunday of the month when members of the Congregational Church support the local monthly Parish Church Meeting.
Regular Sunday meetings are relatively informal and relaxed, with contemporary and traditional songs. We seek to be relevant to all ages and welcome young people. The church has a Child Safety Certificate.
Despite being a small congregation (Theddingworth has only about 70 houses) it is an outward looking church with concern for mission both at home and overseas. In October 2005 the church called a Minister to lead them and Christians from other churches in rural mission and evangelism. The plan is to develop this as an ecumenical programme able to respond to various needs in the community through the sharing of human and other resources.
The members of Theddingworth Congregational Church are able to offer to others the ministry of a quality singing quartet. The church also has members whose gifts are in hospitality. Consequently those that worship at the Congregational Church enjoy good singing and periodic generous fellowship meals!
One of the recent missionary support events involved a Flower Festival organised by a 17 year old member that raised £800 for a Christian School in Peru.
The Congregational Church in Theddingworth can trace its roots back to 1669. At one time it also maintained a non-conformist day school in the village. The Church is affiliated to the Congregational Federation.
